Gravewarden Boss Guide - The 100/10 Defense Split

FAQ

Why does my physical damage do almost nothing to the Gravewarden?
It has 100 physical defense against 10 magic defense. Physical attacks are calculated against the 100; magic attacks against the 10. Swap to any magic option and the same fight plays out very differently.
What is the Gravewarden weak to?
Curse, per the community wiki's stat block. A Curse-element magic attack hits both its weakness and its low magic defense at once.
Where do I fight the Gravewarden?
Greystone Estates — the same district as Mr. Wiggles' rooftop Childhood Fear fight.

Some boss stat blocks tell a story in one line. The Gravewarden’s is 100 / 10 — a hundred points of physical defense sitting on top of ten points of magic defense. Our combat guide already uses this exact boss as its example of why the defense split matters; this page is the full fight around that number.

How do you break a 100-physical-defense boss?

Location Greystone Estates
HP 150
Defense 100 physical / 10 magic
Element Insight
Weakness Curse
Agility 0

Every number in the block pushes the same direction:

  • The split does the work. With 100 physical defense, a physical-heavy kit grinds even 150 HP into a long war of attrition. The 10 magic defense inverts that completely — the same health bar, one tenth of the armor, on the side your spells check.
  • Curse stacks the lever. The recorded weakness is Curse, so a Curse-element magic attack multiplies damage against the weakest defense this boss has.
  • 0 Agility means it is slow. The Gravewarden acts rarely; the danger is not its tempo but your own patience. A slow, armored fight tempts you to stop healing — do not.

The failure mode is walking in with one damage type. If your kit is physical-only, leave, build a magic option, and return — retreat is free, and the Estates’ other boss — Mr. Wiggles, up on the rooftop — is the balanced-defense opposite of this encounter.

How does the Gravewarden compare to Greystone’s other boss?

Two bosses, one district, opposite puzzles. Mr. Wiggles runs 36/33 defenses with no weakness — an honest stat check where nothing is wasted. The Gravewarden runs 100/10 with a Curse weakness — a puzzle with one designed answer. At 150 HP against Mr. Wiggles’ 350, the Gravewarden falls faster once you solve it.

That contrast is worth internalizing early, because the deeper boss ladder keeps trading between the two shapes. The Catacombs pair in the achievements guide mixes a no-weakness stat check with an exploitable flank; the Old Woods pair doubles down on the stat-check side, and the four Emissaries at the end are undocumented territory. Learning to read a stat block before committing — element, weakness, both defenses — is the transferable skill both Estates fights teach.

Is the Gravewarden tied to an achievement?

No boss milestone names the Gravewarden directly — the ten achievements on the ladder belong to other bosses. Clearing it is progression, not a badge, which also means the community clear-rate data says nothing about how many players have actually beaten it. From the stat block alone it profiles as a kit check: wide open to a magic option, punishing to a physical-only kit.
