What Cleansing Balm Does

Use it on a Ghost Tentacle cluster covering a farm tile: the tentacle dissolves, the tile becomes tillable, and your hoe / fertilizer / watering pipeline takes over from there (mechanics in the farming guide). There is no alternative clearing tool in the demo data — balm is the only way through.

The Old Woods mystery payouts are the sleeper source — the Trees Man south of the bus stop pays two balms plus a Lesser Offering of Rain on a 6, and every mystery resets when you bathe (mysteries guide).

How Many Balms Do You Need?

Your starting plot is fully covered, and each cleared cluster frees one tile. A practical early budget: clear 8–12 tiles with the Hans and Crawford supply, run Wheat and Radish on them (the beginner guide rotation), and let monster drops plus Mall Mine trips bankroll the next expansion wave rather than stalling on empty jars.
