FAQ

How do I trigger the Weird Fish fight?
You cannot summon it on demand. The Weird Fish appears randomly while you are fishing the Lakefront on rainy days — no bait, task, or time window guarantees it, but clear weather rules it out.
What is the Weird Fish weak to?
Insight. It is an Insanity-element boss with 12 physical / 12 magic defense, so an Insight-element attack is the one documented lever — and with 999 Agility it acts relentlessly, so the fight is a race.
What does the Weird Fish drop?
Godscale and Godflesh — the same items that roll as fishing treasure catches. The wiki's roll table pays Godscale on 2–3 and Godflesh ×2 plus Godscale ×3 on a 6. Molly loves Godscale; Edwin loves Godflesh.
Is Godscale worth selling?
Godscale sells for 25g and Godflesh for 40g, but their gift value beats the price — Molly and Edwin love them. Gift first, sell the surplus.

Most of Elderfield’s bosses announce themselves through a task or a door. The Weird Fish does not: it is the fight that happens to your fishing trip. 400 HP on a 999-Agility frame, and drops that feed two of the town’s pickiest gift lists.

When does the Weird Fish appear?

Location Lakefront, Campsite, Mall F1 Hallway
Trigger Random, while fishing on rainy days
HP 400
Element Insanity
Weakness Insight
Defense 12 physical / 12 magic
Agility 999

There is no bait or task that guarantees it — the encounter rolls while you fish rainy-day waters at any of its three recorded spots (per the fishing guide tables). Practically, that means a long rain-day session anywhere should be able to survive 400 HP of interruption: rod in hand is not a combat loadout.

Fighting the fastest boss on record

The stat card is no longer a mystery — what it reveals is a race:

  1. Bring an Insight option. The Insanity-element pairing with an Insight weakness is the one documented lever, and 12/12 defenses are low enough that the weakness does the heavy lifting.
  2. 999 Agility changes the tempo. Most documented bosses sit at 0–15; Mr. Wiggles’s 99 already felt relentless, and this is ten times that. Expect to be out-turned constantly — heal before you are forced to, not after.
  3. Retreat is free. A random fight you did not schedule is the worst place to race a health bar — leave, gear up, and the next rain day will still be there.

The drops are the point

The Weird Fish drops Godscale and Godflesh — the divine tier of the fishing treasure table, rolled straight from the boss:

  • Godscale (25g) — loved by Molly, alongside Platinum Ore and the Pale Empress Moth
  • Godflesh (40g) — loved by Edwin, alongside Godscale and the Gorgon’s Eye (but not Blood of the Gods — that one he hates)

That makes the encounter the gift guide’s goldmine: treasure rolls and Weird Fish fights are the two verified sources of these drops, and the boss hands over both items at once. Sell the surplus — 25g and 40g is respectable lake money — but the first drops of each should go to Molly’s and Edwin’s friendship bars, not the shop counter.
