Elderfield Fishing Guide - All Fish, Bait and Locations

FAQ

What bait do I need for the Lakefront?
Worms and leeches. Worms catch Ghost Flounder; leeches are required for Fog Eel. Bait must match the water type — the rod's Use option shows what is equipped.
Where do I get the first fishing rod?
Talk to Herb at the Lakefront. The quest Casting your Line gives the Old Fishing Rod (level 1) plus three worms for free.
How does the fishing minigame work?
Wait for a bite, then click repeatedly while the arrow is over the blue bar until the progress bar fills. Missing the blue window stalls your progress.

Fishing is one of Elderfield’s steadiest income sources and the answer to several early tasks — but every water type demands its own bait, and the money is in knowing which fish need a season, a time window, or a specific lure. This guide lists every rod, every bait, and every fish table verified against the final demo.

How Fishing Works

Equip a rod, make sure its bait matches the body of water, cast, and wait for a bite. In the reeling minigame, click repeatedly while the arrow is over the blue bar until the progress bar fills. Each rod’s Use option shows the equipped bait so you never cast the wrong lure blind.

The three rod tiers:

Rod Tier Source
Old Fishing Rod 1 Gift from Herb at the Lakefront
Sturdy Fishing Rod 2 Forged in the Workshop
Quality Fishing Rod 3 Forged in the Workshop

If you have not started yet, the beginner guide covers Herb’s quest — the rod and three worms are free.

Bait by Water Type

Water Bait How to get the bait
Lakefront Worm / Leech Bait Pack (Tier 1)
Sewers Maggots Maggot Man news event
Mall Admin Office / Hallways Bug Tier 2 bait
Campsite (Old Woods) Dragonfly Bug catching (Tier 2)
Campsite only Lugworm Fishing Contest
Catacombs Firefly

The bait rule explains most “why can’t I catch X” questions — the Fog Eel needs leeches, not worms, at the same Lakefront where worms work for other fish.

Crab Pots

Crab pots catch passively overnight in outdoor water with any bait equipped. Notable hauls: Stoneshell Crab (120–240g), Hermit Crab (80–160g), Lake Mollusk (100–200g), Starfish, Lake Shrimp, Spiked Clam, Midnight Crayfish.

Treasure Catches

Every catch has a loot-roll chance instead of a fish:

  • Rain only: Godscale (25g), Godflesh (40g)
  • Lucky roll: Dreampearl Seed (150g), Gold Bar (60g), Combat Offering (100g), Recipe: Void Dinner
  • Neutral: Scrap Metal, Lucky Die (25g)
  • Unlucky: Bones (5g), Soda Pop (2g)

Rain-day fishing doubles as God-scale farming — several characters, like Molly, love Godscale as a gift. For who wants which fish, see the gift guide.
